North QLD’s famous attraction, the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium – Reef HQ, which houses the world’s largest living indoor coral reef and also home to the National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has partnered with Eilbeck Cranes to decommission an existing overhead crane and replace with a new 3t single girder overhead travelling crane to service the aquariums needs.
The new crane was custom built in Eilbeck Cranes Mackay manufacturing facility and engineered to ensure years of trouble-free operation in the unprotected Townsville location. Exposed to salt air, rain, cyclones, and the harsh North QLD sun the new crane has been manufactured with 316-grade stainless electrical enclosures, cyclone tie-down points, IP65 terminal boxes, rain covers, storm locks and a robust zinc & high build epoxy paint system, finished in a UV resistant urethane epoxy. The hoist fitted is supplied by German company ABUS Kranesysteme, the world’s leading hoist manufacturer.
All site works were project managed and installed by Eilbeck’s newly established local Townsville Service representative utilising local mobile crane company REV Cranes for traffic management and lifting activities.
This latest project, seamlessly executed on time and without quality or safety issues is another example why choosing Eilbeck Cranes is the right choice to make!
